Our FOUNDER
My journey to the world of interior design wasn't straight forward at all. My love affair with classical art started at nursery with a book about Michelangelo and his work painting on the ceilings of the Sistine Chapel using 'fresco' technique. In my teens I have discovered Opera, and decided that this is what I must do with my life; dedicate my voice to celebrate the heritage of great composers such as Bach, Mozart and Monteverdi - and their divine music. However, as much as I tried, I could not shake away the need to dive deeper, and explore further the meaning of life.
I decided to change direction entirely, and pursue another passion of mine - life sciences. So I studied Molecular Biology at university. My course allowed me to explore life and the natural world in ways I could't before. To my surprise, I have found beauty in both form and function - from elements as small as atoms and molecules, and to much bigger structures - such as proteins and cells.
Eventually, I have reached the conclusion I cannot simply work in either art or science, but will have to combine the two. While there were different ways to do so, the most natural way for me was through interiors. Eternally excited about interior spaces and architecture, I found it maddening to learn that we spend 90% of our life indoors, yet how little we seem to appreciate the interaction of our interiors with the way we feel, think and behave.
This is what led me to study interior design at one of the best establishments in the world - KLC School of Design, and develop the House of Birch method to interior design, which tells a story as well as serving a purpose. The art of living well, the science of true luxury.
